Ioannis studied physics at the University of Ioannina in Greece and continued his postgraduate studies at the University of Jena. He obtained his doctoral degree from the University of Crete, as a member of Attosecond Science group at FORTH-IESL. His thesis was focused on multiphoton processes induced by intense XUV attosecond pulses. In the course of his PhD a high photon flux XUV attosecond source was developed, utilizing laser driven gas phase high harmonic generation, which allowed the observation of multi-XUV-photon multiple ionization of noble gases. He is currently a post-doctoral fellow at the University of Freiburg in the research group of Prof. Sansone. His work focuses on investigation of correlated electronic dynamics by nonlinear attosecond spectroscopy performing photoelectron-photoion coincidence measurements.
